"The Wings of the Butterfly"
A Tale of the Amazon Rainforest by Aaron Shepard

Once upon a time in the forest there was a monkey who had friends and some of his friends were tigers, birds, toucans, jaguars, cheetahs, and frogs.

In this forest there lived a girl named Chimidyue and she was nice to the animals in the forest. One day she saw a morpho- butterfly and she chased it and she appeared at the middle of the forest. She saw a bird and monkeys were getting food. The monkeys found Chimidyue and climbed down the tree and turned into humans. She told the monkeys that she was lost. The monkeys said that they would help her the next day. They invited her to come to a party with them.

The Lord Monkey saw Chimidyue and was angry. They other monkeys said that she was their friend. That night, they danced and had a parade. When Chimidyue was sleeping, the Lord Monkey was snoring loud and said he would eat her up. Then she screamed and woke him up. She ran away all the way to the river. Then she cried, "How will I cross the river?"

Chimidyue saw a morpho butterfly. The butterfly made her into a butterfly. And she crossed the river, turned back into a human and went back home.

And now she has the wings of the butterfly in her heart and she lived happily ever after.
