1st Grade (page 1, 2)

In Spring, Ms. Heieck's students read lots of fiction and non-fiction stories about bunnies. They then wrote their own fiction or non-fiction stories, and created bunny puppets. Finally they performed puppet plays to an admiring audience!

Rabbit

I am a rabbit. I live in a burrow and I eat carrots. I sleep in the daytime and wake up at night. I am brown. I like brown because my brother is brown.

The Rabbits and the Fox

Once upon a time a little rabbit went out for some food with his brother. In the woods a fox spied them. The fox jumped out of the bushes and grabbed the brother and the brother slipped out of his hands and got away. The fox ran after them and the fox slipped in mud.

A Fun Time

Once upon a time I had 3 sisters and 2 brothers. I was walking on the sidewalk to my cousin's house and we played lots of games! We played hide and go seek and we slept over and I'm having a great time.

Then the next morning we ate pancakes. We went outside and played on the swingset and the slide. That night we ate popcorn and the next morning I ate eggs and bacon.

I went home after that. Then we played Sorry with my Mom, Dad, and brothers and sisters.

Vicky

Once there was a bunny and her name was Vicky. She got lost in the forest. She sat on a branch and she cried. It was winter and she couldn't find any food.

Then she saw a farmhouse and there was a lot of food. She took salad and carrots. Then a blue bird came and the rabbit said, "Can you help me find my home?"

"Yes I can," said the blue bird.

So they went home, and Vicky gave the food to her family.

The Hunt

"Hi! My name is Snowball. I eat celery."

He went on a walk but just when he got in the forest a dog chased him on and on until the dog stopped. But Snowball didn't stop running and running, but he got into the countryside. But he couldn't get home because there was a gate and the dog is watching him. He waited and waited but the dog just stood there. He started to run, then he got away from the dog.

Then he made his own family. He had four girls and eight boys.
But the dog got through the gate and they ran and ran until the dog got too tired.

Then he made a new burrow and lived happily ever after.

The Sky is Falling

Hi, my name is Silly Sally. One day I woke up to the sound of an apple dropping, but I thought the sky was falling, so I told my Mom and Dad.

They said at the same time, "Don't be silly, it was just an apple dropping."

"How do you know?" I asked.

"Because we saw it fall," they said. "We had just come home from getting food for you because it is your birthday and we did not want you to have to get food on your birthday. Happy Birthday, Sally!"

The next day was my brother's birthday and me and my Mom and Dad went out and got some food for ourselves and some food for him. And he woke up to the sound of an apple dropping, but he thought the Earth was breaking up. So he came down and said, "The Earth is breaking up!"

I live in a hole underground. I have a brother and a father and a mother and two sisters. I love celery and carrots, too!

My Very Scary Night

Hi! My name is John. One day when I went to my friend's house we had a big party. And in the backyard in one of the biggest trees we made a tree fort. We had the party inside the fort and there was a telescope and you could see the whole world. And if you pointed to a place and then jumped in it, you would go to that place.

Then I was in Spencerport so I went to get some Spencerport pizza. But now there wasn't a magic telescope anymore. I was so much away from home. My home is in the desert. When we were still at my friend's house we had all the fans on so it was warmer in the house. So I just wished I was back and I kept saying that. I said it and I kept doing it. Then my friend saw me in Spencerport. So he came in and he took the telescope with him and then we saw the tree fort and we got in it and I was safe, so I went home safely.

But not really.... A big beast was coming right at me and I didn't know what to do. So I started to run but the beast was running faster, so I ran faster and faster. And now the beast was one inch away from me and finally the beast caught me. I was going closer to the beast's mouth and I was halfway into his mouth, but my friend was with me still, so he climbed up and got me out, and I went home safely this time.

Bad Day

I am a rabbit. I live in a burrow. One day I started hopping. But then I saw a snake. I screamed, "Oh no, help! There's a snake. Please! Help! A snake is going to catch me. He is getting closer and closer!"

Then when he slowed down, I dug a hole and I got safe. I went to my stash of food, like carrots and lettuce. When I came out there was a wolf. It started all over again. I came out and I was going and I ran and ran.

Finally it gobbled me and I said, "Let me out of here!" and then he swallowed me.

"OUCH!"

Then he choked and I was out so I ran away.

Then a dog came and I said, "Why did I not go in my hole in time?" I started running and then I remembered that dogs are really fast. But he just needed one more jump to get me, so I went into my hole.

Soccer Bunny

One day it was the big soccer game. Sarah was good at soccer! She got five goals! She won the soccer game. Everyone was happy. But everyone on the other team was not happy!

The coach said, "Stop the game! We have a winner. It is Sarah!"
Her team cheered and she felt happy.

So they went inside and her team cheered, "Sarah, Sarah, Sarah!" and the rest of the day was good.

Jewels
